So... You have some pretty awesome ideas for a character right? Where do you tak it from there? Creating a character can be the greatest thing ever! It truly can be, but you have to really think on it. Is your character going to have powers? What are they going to look like? Are they going to be mean? Perhaps funny? Ooh! Ooh! What about scars!? Scars are always cool right?? Then you have to think of a catchy name that will really hook them. Maybe something with a deep meaning to the roots of your character? Is your character a warrior? Maybe look into the names of some legendary warriors or fighters. Does your character have an ice power maybe? Look up words to do with ice or something similar.

 

If you spend some time on it, you will have a deeper character. Also age is an important thing to also think about. The age of your character can lead to more important things. If you the character is really young, they may not be as well versed within the world. Afterall the old are always more wise, yes? Also age leads to what your appearance may be. Next let's look at personality! Now I know, it can be a very overwhelming task trying to create something that is entirely seperate person from yourself. Also some people even base their characters on themself somewhat. The personality you create needs to feel three dimensional. Really give your character a past. One thing that I do from time to time is I open up a dictionary and I will let my finger fall on a word.

 

I do that alot until I have quite a few things picked out of it. All these things are usually items and then put them together within a story. These items can be many things really. They can be something that means a significant amount to the character. Perhaps maybe a rabbits foot they had when they were little. No matter what, here is what you should ask yourself.. How did the item affect the character? Why would they remember it? What happened to that item or feeling? Stuff like that. You have to ask alot of questions to really get somewhere. Another thing is family. Does your character have family? Do they know the immediate family? Why? Why not? Develope a history for them. They need some sort of heritage or upbringing added to them. Don't forget the more simple things too, like are they good? Evil? Maybe a little bit of both? What makes your character fall into that category? Next is the external part of things. When you meet someone, there are traits and things that are external. What clothes do they wear?

 

Do they dress classy? Perhaps a top hat and cane *wink, wink*. Maybe they wear a long flowy beautiful dress to attract attention. There are also different types of physical attributes here. Height, weight, physical body type, skin tone, coloration, abnormal stuff like scars, some eye color because who doesn't have eyes! A cyclops ha! Stupid cylcops only have one eye! But they still have one! Unless you poke them in it.. Then they are just a stupid cyclops with an eye patch.. A blind pirate cyclops! Can't steal that idea.. It's mine.. MINE I SAY! Ahem.. Back to the point. Figure out if they wear shoes or lack thereof. Assess the nature of your character and then add characteristics that would enhance their appearance and make it their own. You have to make them remember you! Don't forget that! There is an endless amount of possiblities! There really are and you just have to find them. Make sure to give your characters a skillset.

 

What can they do that sets them apart from the average character? Give them a drive as well. Why do they do what they do! Just like a blind pirate cyclops would probably be trying to kill the person that poked him in the eye, but he is blind.. Therefor he will probably never achieve his goal.. Unless he is extremely lucky or suddenly becomes like daredevil and can see blind.. Daredevil Pirate Cyclops.. ALSO MINE! Anyways no matter what, just make it your own and have fun with it. I will do a more extensive help guide on this subject, but this should get you started! So now that I  have helped you out, it's your turn to do your part.
