Frederick Hansen O'Riley

Age: 31 Years Old

Origin: Leech Mercenary

Appearance

Frederick is an enormous ribbed landleech. The skin across his dorsal side is a burnt grey color, and the skin along his ventral side is a faded greyish cream. He has ten eyes, six large and four small. These are blue throughout. He has three opposing jaws.
Frederick generally stands at around 5'7". However, he is capable of stretching his entirely boneless mass to a maximum length of 10'.
Frederick keeps several large packs strapped to himself, one across his midsection and two along his sides. He has two more small pockets attached to his sides above these. The pockets hold knives, which point along his length.

His tale among tales

Frederick was hatched in a damp birch-forest, midway up a mountain in a vaguely Transylvanian range. As there were none but other hatchlings there, he made his way to the nearest clearing, where he found a settlement.
They were a shepherd people, he found shortly afterward. It was an idyllic life for quite some time, and during this period Frederick obtained a basic education. But upon attaining adulthood, Frederick found that there was not any more land to be bought in the area, nor was he lined up for an inheritance. So he purchased two knives with what little gold he had, and set off towards the city Caldere to seek his fortune.

Upon arrival, Frederick found that Caldere was significantly warmer than he was used to. He also found that there were no jobs. Dejected, Frederick spent the last of his gold on alchohol.
While there, he heard talk of mercenary work. Jumping at this prospect, (he had dispatched more than a few attackers on the road; what difference would it make if he was attacking?) Frederick asked where to apply, applied, and became an employee of a large corporate sellsword overseer.

A week or so later, Frederick's services had been purchased, and he left Caldere with a band of fifty-or-so others. There was a small insurrection in one of the northern farming districts over the new wine tax, but the bulk of the nation's soldiers were tied up in the Ringed Isles campaign. Naturally, the government hired mercenaries. (That particular government has since fallen. Frederick dwells in a zone of rather chaotic borders- hence the need for mercenaries.)

The area was inhabited by an odd mix of tall, bipedal primates and squat, bipedal frogs. They had nasty blood. Frederick moved with a small team, whose only objective was to take and hold the fields just east of the "rebel's" base compound.

Upon approach, a pitchfork was thrown at Frederick. Fortunately, its owner was a bad throw, and it clattered harmlessly on the ground. Frederick responded immediately, and though his opponent had an axe, Frederick won. He did so.in a rather novel manner- he twisted and bent and looped out of the way unpredictably, and brought a knife through the man's side whenever he came close enough.

Nine days and twelve opponents later, Frederick was paid. He trained in a nearly a dedicated manner, and over subsequent jobs has made somewhat of a name for himself. Nearly two decades later, he has since moved to a more scrupulous and higher-paying contractor, and is currently dwelling in a high rise apartment in the city Lyimph. His bank account is nearly fat enough to purchase a large tract of land he's had his eye on for quite some time.

Skills

-Normally, landleech people move by extending their front end, placing their sucker on the ground, bringing their end sucker to meet it, and repeating. When a situation calls for speed, Frederick is capable of "looping-" he may move end over end, like a slinky.

-His soft body means he can fit through nearly any space his gold can.

-He is an accomplished hand-to-hand fighter, what with the constant dodges and myriad cuts and powerful three-way jaws.

-Rather good at basic maths, grasps abstract concepts a bit faster than average

-Literate

-Can regenerate from wounds somewhat, though not mid-combat

-Gold

Weaknesses

-Has little to no defense against ranged attacks- generally must wait for others to stop these.
-Cannot defeat wielders of pole-weapons with ease. The forced distance makes it difficult
-His people are almost entirely incapable of wielding any kind of magic.
-His fighting style and movement style means he cannot wear any kind of armor whatsoever.
-Becomes fatigued quickly in warm climates
-Easily bought over; cannot be trusted
